Weekly News, April 23, 2024

Our Demography community has much to acknowledge and celebrate from last week’s Population Association of America’s meeting in Columbus!

We are very proud of and congratulate Josh Goldstein for winning the Mindel C. Sheps Award at PAA 2024, given biennially for outstanding contributions to mathematical demography or demographic methodology. The award to Josh recognizes his outstanding research record and central role in providing a structure for ongoing training in mathematical demography. Congratulations, Josh!

We also congratulate incoming faculty member Jenna Nobles for winning the Clifford C.Clogg Mid-Career Award. The Clogg Award honors outstanding, innovative scholarly achievements of population professionals who have attained their highest professional degree within the previous 10-20 years. So very well-deserved, Jenna!

In addition, this year a number of demography and affiliated trainees participated at PAA, and many for the first time. Great work, everyone!
