Of note: “NIH will only accept six new, renewal, resubmission, or revision applications from an individual Principal Investigator/Program Director or Multiple Principal Investigator for all council rounds in a calendar year. This policy applies to all activity codes except T activity codes and R13 Conference Grant Applications.”

CONFERENCES
ALP-POP 2026: Call for Papers | January 18-21, 2026. Hotel Planibel La Thuile Aosta Valley, Italy. Alp-Pop brings together scholars interested in population issues across several disciplines, including demography, economics, epidemiology, political science, sociology and psychology. The conference emphasizes empirical rigor and innovation over a given topic or geographical area, and meets the challenges of interdisciplinary and international audiences. Alp-Pop scholars confer both formally and informally. A traditional conference program (paper and poster presentations) mixes with group activities in a world-class winter resort. The conference location, the Hotel Planibel in La Thuile (Aosta Valley), is next to the ski-slopes, and is in close proximity to the airports of Geneva and Torino/Milano. Communication of the acceptance of papers will take place by mid-October. The deadline for submission of original papers or extended abstracts is September 21, 2025. Call for Applications | Workshop at IIPS Mumbai. Call for Proposals: Randomized Clinical Trials on Behavioral Interventions in Aging

The Roybal Program is currently accepting applications to fund fully powered, randomized clinical trials on behavioral interventions in aging. Applicants must apply the NIH Stage Model as a conceptual framework and clearly articulate a plan for how their trial will progress through the NIH Stage Model. All clinical trials must have adequate statistical power to test mechanism of behavior change and/or efficacy of the intervention.
Each Roybal Center has a unique theme and individual call for proposals with eligibility criteria and budgets specific to each center. Please refer to the following guidance in identifying which Roybal center your proposal is best aligned with and follow the application submission instructions specific to that center. Applicants may propose projects that align with any of the following key themes addressed by the Roybal Centers. The National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families (Center) | 2025 Professional Development Grant for Emerging Scholars Studying Poverty, Economic Well-Being, and Early Care and Education Among Hispanic Children and Families. The Center is pleased to announce the 2025 call for applications for our emerging scholars’ grant program. This grant program supports professional development activities for doctoral students and early career scholars whose research focuses on poverty, economic well-being, and early care and education (ECE) among Hispanic children and families in households with low incomes. The Center will provide awards of up to $2,850 for expenses related to professional development or as seed funds to support research activities. In addition, grantees will have the opportunity to participate in professional development and networking events organized by the Center. Applications are due Wednesday, August 13, at 5 p.m. EST.

National Academies, Committee on Population. Economic and Social Mobility: New Directions for Data, Research, and Policy. This new consensus study report provides a forward-looking framework for data, research, and policy initiatives to boost upward mobility and better fulfill promises of opportunity and advancement for all members of U.S. society. The report focuses on key domains that shape mobility, including early life and family; the spaces and places where people live and work; postsecondary education; and credit, wealth, and debt. It also discusses the data infrastructure needed to support an extensive research agenda on economic and social mobility. Download here.

IPUMS TIME USE
2024 ATUS data are now available via IPUMS ATUS. This release includes variables on teleworking that were added to the CPS during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Labor has issued a Federal Register notice proposing an extension of the ATUS. This is a standard notice required to continue fielding the survey and a unique opportunity to convey the value of these essential data. We encourage ATUS users to submit a comment describing the importance of the ATUS and how you use the data by Monday, July 28. IPUMS HEALTH SURVEYS
IPUMS MEPS has added over 120 variables across sample years, including new variables related to a person’s spouse, language spoken at home, asthma, disabilities, preventive care, health insurance, home health care events, and dental events.
IPUMS USA
IPUMS USA data users may be interested in upcoming trainings on digitizing historical census geography using public resources and open-source GIS software. The training is hosted by The Mark Fosset Lab, which is currently creating 1940 enumeration district boundaries and sharing resources to engage others at all experience levels in this work.
